Cypress seems to be ok with adults but I don't see it used with hatchlings. I was wondering if it would be ok to use in an outdoor hatchling enclosure.

Redfoot. Is there a reason you don't see it used much? Seems like everyone uses orchid mulch or coconut coir.

I have 7 Redfoots and growing up they're all on cypress mulch. The others are good too. I've never heard of a problem.

Part of the problem is availability. Most soils, mulches, etc are sourced local/regionally rather than transporting them long distances. Cypress isn't available in large quantities in some places. Personally, I think the other choices for substrate are better because they allow the animals to dig easier than cypress so I don't use cypress singularly but only as part of a mix for variety.

Outdoors I just use the native dirt.

Cypress is okay, but its my least favorite of the acceptable substrates.
