I'm wondering if the mulch sold in big stores like Home Depot and Lowes is safe for my tortoise table?
I prefer orchid bark for several reasons. It can be found at local garden centers.
I can only find it at pet stores in SoCal. I think I tried ordering online from Home Depot and Lowe's but couldn't get it (it was a while back)That depends on what part of the country you are in. I can't find it anywhere here in the Midwest. It's mostly on the West Coast. I did finally find some on Walmart.com and guess where it's shipping from Spokane WA. Bad thing is it just a 8qt bag. But I get free shipping if I pick it up at the store it's delivered too. I have searched for over a year for the big bags here in Oklahoma with no luck.
It's cheaper for me to buy a 24qt of reptibark from amazon than it is to get the orchid bark. I would love to get a few of the 2 CU. bags of orchid bark but the shipping cost is outrageousI can only find it at pet stores in SoCal. Pet store cypress is hideously overpriced and there's no difference in quality, never get it if you can find it anywhere else. I remember it was $20 or so for a single bag and I needed at least 3 to fill his enclosure to the bare minimum. Nightmares.

I know people grow orchids in OK. They are getting it somewhere. I've special ordered it from my local garden stores in the past. Shouldn't be too difficult for them to order you a bag or two.
Has orchid bark or cypress? Please post a picture of what you found?Homedepot and lowes has it and sphagnum moss...no issues at all..
