Cuttlebone

I think I may have found our Little Liam's preferred form of calcium... I plopped a cuttlebone down today and the little fellow munched happily at one end! Having trouble getting that hard back off of the thing, though, and I've read it's not safe to leave it on. Does anyone have any pointers for me?

I have pretty good success sanding it off.
