Custom Wood Hides

So I made a custom Wood hide out of some 2x4 that I got from work. These peices of Wood came off our delivery truck that were used to make the shelves our Product sat on. My question is, I'm doing a tortoise table and am getting a hermann tortoise and was wondering if it's safe to use, do I need to seal it? If so what's best? I have heard of deadly fumes. I have no idea what kind of Wood this is. So idk if it's something I should use.

Are you getting a baby or a full size adult? This will determine what type of enclosure you need. Open tables are not suitable for babies.

I have heard pine is bad but also seen its a myth. This wood is for a hide not the enclosure.

It's also in a open top tortoise table so not in an enclosure

I like hides made from clay pots. No possible harm then. Also please heed Tom's advice regarding the right stuff all round for your tortoise!

Ok thanks and I have done alot of research and asked my questions in several locations I have been doing everything to make sure I'm set up correctly. Just needed some more clarification on this wood for building a hide. But I'll stick to the clay pots till I can get something funner and safe. Thank you
