In addition to tortoises, I also love Prehensile tailed skinks, Corucia zebrata.

Beautiful setup. Do you have a colony? Do you know what location variety they are?

These are definitely on my wish list. I had an opportunity to get them decades ago, before they were CITES. I kick myself for not doing it. Now they're like $1000+ a pop.

Awesome critters.

Currently I have 5.4, with everyone separated in pairs. I don't know what region they are from, they have characteristics of a few different ones. They have not produced any slugs, so I am guessing they are close enough to be compatible. Unfortunately the individual I received them from had no history on them.

Momma is finally letting 1 yr old, Elliot, to venture off. It is amazing that the mother will protect her single infant for up to a year after having a gestation of 9 months!! These little guys amaze me

I would love to keep monkey tails some day. They are one of the most closely related species to my Tiliqua. It looks like you have great setups for them. Good luck with them in the future!

The head shot is of a Corucia zebrata zebrata (Common Solomon Island skink). The light sclera and the five parietal scales determine the subspecie. The northern has a dark sclera and seven parietals. I'll have to congratulate you on your success in keeping a good group. I wish the knowledge of was available in the nineties when so many were imported and then lost to the hobby because of ignorance.

[/quote] Haven't seen any since the nineties. At the time didn't know of subspecies but thinking back on it I've seen both at reptile shows and in petshops. I had three in nineties but lost them to carbon monixide leak in furnace.

$1000+ ouch! I had 2.4 adults throughout the 90's. Bought them for $125 each in 1990.

How unfortunate!!! I remember seeing them as when I worked at my first pet store. I thought they were so neat. I remember when we were buying them for $35 a piece. If only I knew what I know now lol

The spelling is a little off but I'm sure he gets all the ladies. :D

I bet it does throw everyone off. I dont know how many times I've been talking to people and I think they're talking about their kids and then the dog comes around the corner and they call its name lol.
