I think I know what your asking here. If your asking if the interior color should be black, I would guess yes. Or any dark color, natural wood whatever to simulate the inside of a burrow.
I know from experience (at least with mine) that they see colors very well. I lure mine out of trouble, like sneaking into the house, with a big bright orange mug i use to feed his Mazuri with.
He'll follow it anywhere!
Any bright colors attract him. Even when I sweep his area with a bright red handled broom, he comes running. Probably thinks its big flower or something.

If you are talking about a black or dark colored hide, I think that would be best, rather than say, a transparent or translucent one.
