I have a 10 year old female Herman’s tortoise in a 4x3ft enclosure. Where she was living before I got her was about a 40 gallon tank. I take her out to roam around (with my supervision completely watching her the whole time) for about 30 minutes a day or ever other day. I also soak her almost everyday.
Long story short...
SHE KEEPS CLIMBING IN THE SAME SPOT!

She is climbing in the same spot in her tank over and over again. I have rearranged her enclosure. I even have paper over the glass so she doesn’t want to walk through. Is there another reason why she might be fixated on climbing that one spot. Thank you!

I think it might be because the enclosure is too small. It should preferably be 4x8. Especially since you let her walk around, she is used to more space so when put into the smaller space she will just try to escape. That spot may appear to her as the easiest chance to climb out.

Our boy does the same when he wants to get out and free roam, he doesn’t stop until we get him out, so it’s probably that.
