Hi all.

I have researched too much and now worried as I want to look after my Herman properly.

What is best between a ceramic ir heater or spot bulb for the heat?

I am going to a 4 foot vivarium with a 12% strip bulb that goes the entire length of the back.

I only want one heating source and ordered 150w ceramic heater with a pulse thermostat as bulbs kept blowing.

Is this good for the tortoise or do they do better with a spot basking bulb?

Also is I need to return the heater and go for a bulb, is the thermostat ok or do I need to change for a dimmer one?

Thank you for any advice in advance.

The ceramic heat emitter can control the ambient temp in the enclosure. They also need a separate basking light (your tort is a Hermann’s?) and you can get an incandescent flood bulb from a hardware store and get a 65w bulb. Height can be adjusted depending on the temperature directly under the light (about 95 degrees).
