The topic is my attempt at humor because I swear my Leopard would live in a cave if she could. She doesn't really like to bask under a MVB and not in the sun either. She will sit under her CHE but only if its in a dark hide. She will walk around to get some exercise but only if its dark around her enclosure. Or at least a dimmed setting. Does any one elses leopards prefer the dark to the light?

How old is your Leopard and how longhave you had her for?
If she's a baby then she probably is still in the prey stage, that is feeling
like she's someones lunch.
Or if you've just gotten her then it will take some time for
her to settle in.
Our Luka hid for a time when we first got her, she was 3. Now she
spends most of her day basking and then sleeping under her
hay pile, That is when she's not stuffing her face.
It's so cute when they splay all four legs when sunning themselves
and then look up at you with that look as if to say "Do you mind,
I'd like some privacy".

Hey, I've always said that I live in a cave. Sorry to say, there are no leopards in here with me! :D

I have had her two or three months. She is an older lady, 10-15. Maybe older. I think she is gonna be my challenge for the year. I've been nursing animals back to health this year more then I have in the last 5 and even though they are all different types of animals they all settled in quite well. I think I 'll just have to work with the Leo. She has also proved to be a pickey eater. All that damn fruit she was fed before. Mayeb she has settled in and this is how she was before I got her and she is perfectly fine with that. Come spring though, whether she likes it or not, she is spending time in the sun. And I will be providing less spring mix and more weeds and grass. Have to give a little tough love.

I practically live in a cave also if it weren't for all these reptile lights I got goin everywhere. LOL

Congrats on the new addition, sounds like she's found a great home.
I would imagine that she's just still settling in, getting used to her new digs.

I hear you about living in a cave, and all the lights.
I often wonder if there is something wrong since I much prefer
spending time with my animals than humans .
Guess we're all different.

Since you haven't had her very long, there might be stuff in her background that causes her to like caves. It could also be because she is in a new enviroment. Leopards take a bit longer to adjust and become friendly than other types. I believe if you give her some time and continue to spend time with her, she'll become much more friendly. I took in an older Leo and it took several months for it to feel comfortable enough not to go running for cover when people came around.

Hang in there! :)
