With the price of endive and escrole rising in price as fast as gas prices. Now 3.59 a pound, I noticed for the first time at our local grocery store that they had catcus pads, they were about hand size and packaged 4 to a pack for .50 cent. I have never fed them to my redfoots and wonder how good or bad they may be for them.

I've never given them to mine, but I'm sure they're OK since others feed them. Here escarole is .69 cents a lb. Escarole is good to grow yourself, as they don't mature until the first sign of frost. Sometimes I pick mine in January and I use them as a good source of winter food.

I will get some escarole seed and try to grow some this year. Our local stores have this years seed displayed now so hopefully I can find it.
