Anyone else have a cat that can clear a room lol!? This is Saber, my latest rescue cat (Christmas 2009). If he uses the litter, you know it. It cracks me up, seeing him use the litter and a couple of minutes later, NONE of the other cats are to be seen.

I think I need to move one of the litter boxes out of the computer room...

He's a brown spotted bengal. About 2-3 years old. He was rescued from pretty poor conditions. His "owner" kept him outside 24/7 (yep even through a Michigan winter), because he had litter problems supposedly. Well the first day I got him, he has used the litter and has since. He had REALLY hard/cracked toe-pads that are now really soft. He also put on about 3 LBs.

His right eye has some sort of clear filament over it (almost like his inner eye lid got fused to his eye). He doesn't have an eye ulcer (tested that). But without going to a specialist, the vet has no idea what it could be. He thinks he can still see somewhat through the eye, but I definitely notice him "adjusting" his head a lot more than he should be (like he has one eye)

Anyways here he is, the little stinker!

He loves anything that he can cuddle up next to (small crevices he'll fall asleep in etc). He especially loves sleeping between my legs if I'm laying down.

And made friends with my 22 year old cat, Callie! Always catch them sleeping like this on the chair.

That's a sweet story. I love cats. I have one who had "litter problems", and now he just scoops and scoops, obsessively covering his spot till a few cups of litter are all over the floor...but I keep a broom nearby and just use it every time I walk by. At least he is using the catbox and not the carpet...

I hope Saber has many happy years with your family.

Beautiful kitty. I've always wanted one of the wild-type breeds of cat...but I only get cats because they come to live here on their own. So I'm hoping one day a Bengal will find its way here...HA!

Both your cats are beautiful. He must have some sort of an internal problem if your Callie eats the same stuff and doesn't smell like that. I'd take that problem to the Vet. Have you tried feeding him an expensive food? Callie is just beautiful too. And I'm guessing because she is 22 years old that she's an indoor only kitty...My older cat is one of those that has to bury her poop under so much litter that she moves all the litter from one side of the box to the other. And if the poop was close to the edge, then she's gonna move all the litter out on the floor. I had to buy a cover for the box to keep her from ruining the walls because for some reason she thinks there is litter on the wall to use, or something. Anyhow, get as much protien out of his diet as you can and that will tone down the smell.
And remember I am a poop expert because I have a Sulcata:p

Could he have inverted eye lashes? They would be scraping the surface of the eye and making scar tissue (the opaque covering).

That wasn't mentioned to me by the vet the 2 times he's gone in so far. And all of his look to be in the right place.

He was in pretty poor conditions as stated in my first post, so who knows what could have happened.

I would have to see a specialist to see what the problem is ($160 just for a visit, no treatment). So I'm currently saving up slowly to take him in. The vet doesn't think it's harmful in any way, or I would have taken him in earlier.

As far as the poop goes. He gets a more "raw" food, recommended to me by the rescues founder. But that's not to say he doesn't get any of the other cats food. I did mention it to the vet and he said, some cats DO have smellier poop.

That might be your problem. Different foods digest at different rates. Commercial dry food takes an average of 12 hours to fully digest. Canned cat food takes anywhere from 6 to 8 hours. Raw cat food takes an average of 4 hours. When I switched to raw I was adviced not to feed commercial cat food for this reason.

If you go to fully raw food, the smell should go away. I know it did with my two cats.

By the way, you have a very beautiful cat! Congrats!

again, my congrats on the beautiful pics and a 22 y.o. kittie. I hope mine survive as long -
as for the smells and litter box thing...

with 3 cats one or two standard litter boxes weren't enough, so be bought a small wading pool to be used as the litter box. high sides, plenty of space, no errors on the carpet. litter does track tho, so we have our handy vacuum to help us out.

Thanks for the comments guys, didn't even realize this was still going!

I have 5 litter boxes set up around the house. None of them don't use the box so that's a plus.

I did however take Saber to the vet about 2 months ago. He tested negative for giardia, coccidia and any type of worm/parasite.

I was recommended by someone who also has a cat that has smellier feces to try this stuff called Forti-Flora. He was on that for about 20 days (1 packet a day mixed with wet food) and I noticed his stool firmed up more than it already was and smelled less.

The vet did give panacur as well, just on the off chance that the tests did a false negative. So his treatment ends this week, hoping this does the trick!

yes, thinking back, Dutch had an issue with runny smelly stuff and the vet gave us the forti flora stuff. Worked like a charm.

hope it works for yours as well.

So they only have to be on it for a bit to help things out and now they are normal? The person I was speaking with has to use it daily (luckily it's not too expensive) to keep her Mo's firm stool.

As soon as saber was off of it, his stool didn't go back to what it started with and still had some of the form, but it got a little worse than it was up to.

I decided to stop the forti-flora so I could see if the panacur actually works. Trial and error I guess until it's resolved. Just don't want too many changes at once and then not figure out what it was.
