All right everyone. I have been looking for a male Russian tortoise for months now. And have had no luck. Can someone please help me out? Do you know of anyone who has one? $50.00 is pretty much my limit. Thanks fellow TFO members :D

Might be your problem.

Why are you looking for a male again?

I would suggest changing the title of your thread to male russian wanted.
You would be better off looking into the CTTC for adoptions, or check out petco/petsmart for russians they usually have a glut of males for sale.

There's always some in the Chicago area Craigslist, however they usually want more then 50 and I don't know they would ship. Good luck

Petsmart's Russian's aren't healthy and I contacted my local CTTC chapter and I'm not in a 30 mile radius so they wont let me adopt one. I have had no luck on craigslist. And I posted a ad at my local pet store. And I posted ads on craigslist.

I am unaware of any 30 mile radius rule for CTTC adoptions.

I believe the radius is because they don't want to travel so far to check out the future home.

Well if you've been waiting for months, why haven't you saved up some more money? How are you going to build a second set of enclosures if you can't even afford the tortoise? You aren't expecting to just drop a new male in with your female in her enclosure are you?

Hard questions I know, but these things must be considered. I know where to get males Russians for around $50, but they are new imports and they will take some extensive quarantine and possible vet work to really get them where you need them to be. I would not be doing you a favor by pointing ou in that direction. You'd be better off just paying more money up front for a CB or a long term captive.

Oh I am saving up the money. I've got the money for his own habitat and all. I would just really prefer adopting one. Thanks for the site. It looks like I will be buying one. If I do I will get him from tortoisesupply.com or there is a local pet store called: "High Country Feed And Pets" and there Russian's are $100.00 and look really healthy. It's just kinda depressing looking for months, and keep getting contacted but they all turn out to be scammers. And having NO luck. :(
