Why KS ? This is the 21 first century.
Try AZ Tortoise Compound, Andy is a great guy . And a member of the TFO ! He has a phone number on his web page ! Good luck with your new child ( Tortoise ) :)

Hi and welcome.
I'm in UK so can't help with your question but would you want a baby or an older rescue tort? There may be animal rescue organisations in your area looking for good homes.
There are lots of good caresheets for the different species which may help you decide which best suits your circumstances. Obviously the bigger the species the more space you need. A minimum enclosure size of 4' x 8' is often quoted for smaller torts, though you can start with smaller but they can grow quickly!! Climate is also a consideration. I have a leopard in a colder climate and it is not easy or cheap to provide the temps and uvb it needs 24/7/365!!

If you buy a tort from a pet store check here before spending your hard earned cash on equipment, most pet stores are interested in profit rather than after care and have been known to sell unsuitable, unsafe and expensive equipment to trusting customers. So check your shopping list here to save money and make sure your set up will keep your tort happy and healthy.
