I usually stripe the squash (leave some skin on) then cut it into cubes, and boil it for 3-5 minutes. That way it's not as tough for them to eat. Leaving a little bit of skin and helps trim their beak.
For my sulcatas. I cut them in half then nuke them for 10 minutes .. When they cool they get tossed into the pen. No trace in 15-20 minutes... When in season I do the same with a few pumpkins...
