Not ready to brumate our little babe, but I don't think you're crazy at all! I know I would miss him, I've grown so attached already, and I can imagine how much more so I will be down the road.

The boys here are beginning to slow their food intake, and they are slowing down....no matter how many times you wait through their brumation....I personally still miss them while they recharge for the spring....

Hey, I just realized you said 6 months or so????? Why would you think they brumate for that long of a time period....should be more like 4 months and not too much over that....

How old are your torts and how long have you had them? Have you ever fostered a CDT's brumation?

I'm sorry...Calculated my months wrong!! They went into their burrows in Oct. and poked their heads out in middle of Mar. My son found them

Yes you are both right about the 6 month I calculated wrong... My torts are Nv DTs. Our weather can be very weird it can get cold then warm up again before it gets cold and viceversa in spring. This will be the second winter I've had them. They are about 3 yrs old now. When I was in my teens I had a CDT hatchling but had to give him up when I moved to Nv.
