Theres this brown bacteria/fungus type of rot that spread all over the family goldfish tank. There is a light, filter, and some decorations. I spent many minutes looking throught Aquariums for Dummies, but there was almost nothing. I'm no filter-tank person, I own multiple jars with quiet little bettas, and I need help. I know brown spreading isnt a good discription. My mom cleaned the tank about two weeks ago. I carefully observed the area with my brothers magnifying but apparently this stuff is microscopic. Its covering the edge of the silk (whatever it's plastic cloth or whatever people call it not real silk) plants and deep into the gravel. It's a five gallon aquarium. I dont think it's algae. If it is, then probably the the fish won't get killed so quickly! THANK YOU!

Have you tested your water lately? You have to maintain the proper ph levels or you may have toxic levels of ammonia ect. Take a sample to a pet store and they'll tell you what to do to correct the problem.
