Well you are taking their word for a lot of it. The ad said eggs, not babies. Who knows how they are housed. Could be a surviving, but not thriving situation. They might have gotten them in November as they were going to sleep and since its still a bit cold and springtime is not here they are still sleepy... Just throwing out a possibility.
