Box turtle injury?

Does this look like an injury or mouth rot?? I have been told that it looks more like an injury but I've also been told it's mouth rot. Any suggestions on what it could be would be appreciated.

not sure, but something is wrong. Is there a turtle vet or a wildlife rehabber near you? Maybe they can give you an idea of what is going on./ Good Luck!!

This is mouth rot.

It looks like your little turtle got his lower beak hung up on something and in trying to get free he tore the tissue on either side of his mouth.

I agree with Yvonne looks like an injury. Only other thing I could think of is if an abscess opened up but it doesn't appear to me to be the case. I know one thing, sure is a cute little one!

He is also missing a nail. Here are a few more pictures, you can see the mouth and where the nail is missing.
