Why do they do this? They are babies. I feel like they are just playing with each other bc it's not harsh but is it normal?

Thank you again

Tortoises don't play. How many and what size? Any kind of biting is aggression.

Early signs of bullying? Even though they are small, you will have to separate them soon.

That sounds like biting
"Sulcatas are solitary animals that do best on their own"-Tom
I took his advice and seperate my little ones, but now that I have 3 (olive, Tiger, and my little rescue) I keep them in one closed chamber and they are doing just fine.
The only time I separate them is to feed them 1: because one likes to walk all over the food and destroy it for the others. 2: so I can monitor how much each one individually is eating just to be sure they each get sufficient nutrient intake. 3: I separate them on their own little rubber made containers so after thy eat they can go straight to a soak and not get their bedding covered in tiny little bits of grasses, believe me it's a pain to pick out.

Biting from agression* excuse my brain fart.

Lol thanks everyone. And it's not all the time....most of the time they follow each other around and copy each other. I'm just over paranoid I think. But I will def watch them for signs of bullying or stress...I mean they are only 6 weeks old.

Even though it may seem like they're fine we can't see through their eyes. You could be missing a major symptom of aggression biting being the number one. I wouldn't keep them together just to be safe, it may be to late once you finally realize there is a problem.

No, its definitely NOT playing. I have two YF tortoises who have no tails. They all hatched out of the same clutch and I kept them together as a group of 3 even though one of them was pretty much bigger than the other two. By the time I realized something was off (tails!!!) and separated them, the tails were gone.

In tortoises "following" is usually chasing. As in "Get out of my territory!" Pairs are not a good idea. Here is a thread on it: http://www.tortoiseforum.org/thread-34837.html

I just saw you other thread with them biting their own feet. Are you using a "colored" bulb for heat? How about one of those coil type UV bulbs?

Hi Tom

I'm not using a "colored" heat lamp, and yes I do believe the UV bulb is considered to be a coil....I saw your thread about using the Mercury Vapor light so I'm looking into those. I just don't know why he was biting his own legs...figured he was just mad is was soaking. Although this was the first time they haven't soaked together.
