They also have very high domes.... Didn't some one once do a study on High Domes at young ages = one sex or the other?

They spent their 1st 18 months in a closed chamber, high heat/ high humidity (see Toms paper on hatchlings and follow it closely). With simi weekly soaks and Vita-shell once a week.

They just spent this last Summer outside 24/7 in the Texas Heat and low to moderate humidity. They are currently back in their closed chamber but I'm not so anal about the high Humidity (80%+) and they still get their weekly application of Vita-shell!:)

So beautiful Zamric. They are lovely.
I have to ask. Do you think all the white is because of the Vitashell? I seem to recall that they come from two different places and yet they look a lot alike in shell development. Per chance, have you seen their siblings to compare? In any case, no doubt on how awesome they look! Mighty nice! : )

Im not sure if the color is from the vita shell or not. The are from different clutches from different parts of the Country but they both have a nice creamy butter tint.... but they also have the same diet and same environment. It could be a combination of all 3! :p

Their shells almost look like a plowshares except you don't have to plow. The are truly exceptional. You should be proud.

How often do you soak them.

for the 6 months, 2 or 3 times a week. for the next year, once a week. When they where outside this summer, 24/7 they never got soaked. Now that they are indoors for the winter, once a week.

During the Summer they never got soaked because of my sprinkler system. their garden got watered 3 times a weeks which equaled @ 45 minits of rainfall weekly. That does not count how much God watered them!:p
