Iv'e noticed a lot of posts that mention how hard it is to inject and painful for the tort. If they are still eating, can a Baytril Pill, but put in a piece of food and fed to them? Less traumatic and the tort may not even notice!

Baytril does come in pill form as well as injectable. You can also put the dose inside a strawberry. You can use injectable Baytril orally also.

We mix ours with saline to ease the sting and muscle pain.

I did just talk to a guy at a reptile show that says he uses Baytril in a nebulizer and has the tortoises inhale the antibiotic (mixed with saline) - saying that it goes straight to the problem. He claims he has his reptiles better within 7 days. I've not tried it, but I wonder if anyone else on the forum has?

I haven't used a nebulizer, but I have mixed it 1 part to 9 parts saline and squirted it up each nostril. That works very well.

I haven't use a nebulizer because of the expense and trouble but I understand it is one of the best ways to administer antibiotics to a tortoise.

I use tablet form with great success. I see no need to give injections anymore.
