A lot of sites say keeping tortoises in aquarium is bad and causes the tortoise to become sick, is this true?
Are there pros and cons of keeping tortoises in aquariums, if so what are they?
Thanks a lot!

Aquariums aren't as bad as once thought, good for high humidity. However, most are too small a d that's what makes them not the best enclosure.

Not true at all. I have been using them for more than 20 years. The reason people said they were bad is because the tall sides in relation to the foot print blocks airflow and holds in too much heat. People used to believe that tortoises were all desert animals and needed dry conditions with lots of fresh air. This is actually wrong and counter productive. Babies of most tropical species do best when kept warm and humid. It is very difficult to maintain warm and humid conditions in an open tortoise table in a typical North American home. The restricted airflow of an aquarium actually helps to retain the much needed warmth and humidity. I have gone one step further in creating closed chambers that restrict airflow even more, and these make it very easy to maintain warm humid conditions for my tortoise babies.

I can tell you from raising literally hundreds of hatchlings in glass tanks that they do NOT make tortoises sick.
