Hey everyone,

Wondering if there's anyone out there that enjoys making night boxes that is within a few hours drive of Raleigh. I am looking for one for my leopard tortoise Cleo. I know they're not complicated to make but I don't have the opportunity to make one right now. Id be able to pay for all materials and extra for your service. I know I could also ask a handyman around town but I wanted to check here first. Thanks!

Here is what I did for my Russian, but it may be too small for your guy once he's fully grown, but could be a placeholder if he's small... I can't build anything myself, but this has worked really well:

Keep your eyes peeled for this doghouse:
I found it on sale for $79. Its LEGIT insulated, and it has a hole for electricity. They also have bigger/more expensive ones if your tort gets larger than this, but i can say these are for real insulated and hold the temp nicely. They have a number of different products.

I put a chicken coop heater in as a heating unit in the back:

attached to a thermometer (note this model doesn't actually start warming until 3 degrees below the set point, which is annoying):

in front of the heating unit I put a combination of brick borders from a garden store, and a metal "wall" which are basically a baking cooling rack, just to make sure he couldn't ever connect with the heating element, but still make sure there's air flow from the heater.

Then I filled the front part in front of the half "wall" with substrate for him to dig into.

I do need to protect the electrical items from dampness, but that's a November problem, not an August problem, here in LA...

Yeah, I've seen those. I was interested if anybody had used one. Thanks for the idea!
