Very pretty tortoise. How big is the enclosure? And what kind of bulb are you using? I can't see very well but what are the little white specs in the dirt? Sometimes garden so oil etc. has little White specs that are poisonous to tortoises so just checking. I like the natural looking food bowls. And I like the way you put rocks around the water bowl to keep it a little cleaner.

The substrate is made for tortoises and so hopefully the White things aren't posinous (going to check packet now.) The cage is about 1.2 metres As much as I would love to, I don't have the space right now to buy a bigger one, (but hopefully soon.) thank you so much.

They do like to eat them though which could cause the gut to become impacted so keep an eye on it.
You may also find you have a problem keeping heat and humidity in with a cage so possibly think of covering with something to help. Check the enclosures thread for ideas.
Welcome back.

Thank you everyone. The pebbles certainly aren't small enough to eat, but I'll keep my eyes out for a lid or something I could use as a cover

was just hard to tell from the pic :). lovely looking tort you have:)

Some people just use plastic sheets - being careful to avoid the hot lamps etc - or foil. I think there's lots if ideas here.

A lovely enclosure.:) Though I do agree with what was said as far taking care of your tort, and making sure he/she does not eat a pebble. I often take my beloved tort out for walks, and I follow him step by step....wow the PATIENCE that's needed! At times he does try to eat a pebble, don't know why. And it is definitely not that he's hungry. Could be curiosity - don't know.

Yes, I understand. Billy eats anything white:feathers, stones, food and objects. I have to scour his path before he walks it and remove any white things. it does require a lot of patience but it's all for the best ;)
