Ants: a concern?

My outdoor enclosures are crawling with ants (not fire but the small black ones). They are foraging on the veggies and fruit I feed my turtles/tortoises. I don't see them bothering my turtles (Flavomarginata) or tortoises (red foots). Should I be concerned about the ants? I guess I could leave their food out for a shorter time, but my turtles/torts are not trained to come right away...I guess I could set them at the dish so they know it's there--but that would be labor intensive. Well, I need y'all's wisdom!

I would be worried. I would be using dichotomous Earth in the outside enclosure to take care of the ants.

Some species of ants are just irritating and others are deadly to your tortoises. I don't know which category your ants fit into, but I'de get rid of them just the same. Try some Terro Ant Baits. Those are just sugar water and boric acid, so not toxic to pets. Put the little trays in areas where the ants go, but your tortoises can't reach.
