Hi I can't comment on Heni's age but he looks to me like an older fella. That is some bandage on his foot. I do hope it heals well. Keep an eye on it. A plastron shot of both would be a good thing to help ID them.
Mimi has a beautiful shell.

You might want to concider a tile or slate for an eating surface it would help keep the beak trimmed.

Thanxs Robyn, Does it matter what sort of tile it is whether its rough or smooth? I thought also That Henri was an older guy, Boy does he eat.. I will whizz a pic of the Plastron over when he wakes up, probably tomorrow. Mini was the one i rescued from a morrocan selling them on the market, she was full of parasites infections and ticks, she is such a lady.

Heres a shot of plastron the first being Henri, and the second being Mini, Im pretty sure shes a Testudo graeca graeca..

Yvonne we will let Danny weigh in on these two. I believe Mini is Testudo graeca graeca but I seem to always mess up the origin of these guys. I use tile I bought at home depot just like you use for your floors. I do however try and buy the ones that are not really shiny and slippery.

Oh pooh. I got them the wrong way round best change my signature.. I always thought Mini was a moroccan as she doesnt have the distinct markings on the top of her shell, or could that be that not all of them develope until quite late on? Henri i just wasnt to sure as he is black due to the scars bless him, Do you think he is around the 10/15 year old mark?
Thanx Danny will send u photo of Miya when i get one.

Henri is probably 50 to 60 years old :D

Not all Tunisians have the large black spots in the center of each scute, they do though have the black pattern of smudges or stripes instead of spots like most North African greeks.

Be glad to ID Miya for you :)

50 - 60 years old! Wow, that is so cool and interesting.

Danny, can you share with us what details you can see on Henri that you use to 'age' him? I enjoy learning this stuff :)

Just his overall all condition Donna, the smoothness of his shell, length of spurs and scales.
