He looks so big in the first 3 pictures, but the one where you are feeding him he doesn't look as big. How many pounds is he and how long? He doesn't look like he lost much weight for not eating for 4 months. :D He is very nice looking though. :)

He is actually a she, and when I weighed her last fall, she was almost 16 pounds.

Sorry. How old is she? Do you have any pictures of the plastron so I can see what a female DT looks like? I trying to be able to tell sex on tortoises, but get kind of confused with the different kinds. :(

Candy at least you knew it was a DT- that's more than I knew :rolleyes:
I know my Russians and sulcatas and that's about it!!

Hahaha, I am still trying to learn how to tell the different species apart, too!

I was thinking that the "scales" on the front legs are smooth and flat instead of raised and pointed like they are on Sulcata? :p
