Cross-posting because I REALLY don't think this is an African tortoise... In fact, I'd hazard a guess this guy is breaking a very specific law by trying to blatantly sell this lovely tort!

It is a California desert tortoise. He probably doesn't know what he has. I will send him a nice email explaining the law. :)

Kim-- LOL! I dunno, this looks more like the beach-dwelling variety to me. The rare African Beach Tortoise. They much prefer the taste of jackalopes. :D

Sounds like someone fishing for a victim to me. If he really thought is was some species of "African" tortoise, why would he be asking $1000?
