Hi I'm Cassidy!

I have wanted a tortoise since I was a little girl, and after many months of research I am finally getting an African tort hatchling tomorrow. The breeder told me he was the runt of the hatchlings..

So can someone tell me what I can except from my little hatchling when I get him?

its also very easy for them to burrow in at night.

I use coconut coir also, it is great stuff. And it doesn't mold when kept damp. Please read and read some more about the care of your precious baby! Keep him nice and warm along with the humidity. That was my 1st mistake with my sulcata Cooper, not keeping him warm enough caused him to get very sick, my heart broke everyday watching over him till he finally recovered, because dad didn't read enough about his care. Thank god for the people of this forum! They helped me thru a lot of my learning curve! Have a great day and welcomed to the forum! :)

Hello and welcome. Which species of African tortoise are you getting? Sulcata?

Here is how I like to house them:
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/Thread-How-To-Raise-Sulcata-Hatchlings-and-Babies#axzz1UJdRI2cQ

First thing to do when you get him home is a nice warm, shallow soak. I'd do this every day for a while. Tiny babies can dehydrate VERY quickly.

Was he incubated for male? I noticed you have 1.0.0 for your signature line.

Yeah the breeder told me he was a male. And Blast is a African Spurred tort :) and thanks for the link, Ill be sure to sure it :)
