Addition of fish to turtle tank

I just upgraded my eastern mud turtles 10 gallon tank and was thinking about adding some fish. Any suggestions of a species that will go along well and that he wont eat?

That he won't eat?
No.
But some things that will be beneficial as they are eaten would be things like ghost shrimp to clean the gravel.

I've introduced native Gambusia minnows and 'feeder' guppies to my mud turtle aquariums from time to time. After the initial chasing that invariably results, the mud turtles sort of ignore smaller fish that they cannot catch.
You could try these types with your eastern mud turtle.
