There are 6 red-eared sliders for adoption at the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in San Mateo, CA. 4 are females, 2 are males.
Some of us are only a about five inches long while others are full grown (nearly 12 inches long!) We enjoy basking in the sun on warm days, and like to swim around and eat up all our food when we’re not basking. If you are interested in adopting any of us, make sure you have a predator-proof outdoor pond or a sizeable indoor set-up. We are going to need some space to swim!
To hear a recording of the most current listing of animals for adoption, call 650/340-7022, extension 709 (reptiles). To adopt an exotic animal, please call 650/340-7022 extension 354 for more information or visit the shelter in person. Shelter hours are 11 am to 7 pm on the weekdays and 11 am to 6 pm on the weekends. It is often not possible for our staff to complete adoptions when visitors arrive less than an hour before we close (7 pm on weekdays and 6 pm on weekends). Please note this and arrive at least an hour before our closing time if you think you might be adopting a pet.
Because exotic animals have specialized needs, PHS/SPCA adopts them to potential adopters that have researched the care required for that particular animal. Please note we do not ship animals, adopters must visit the shelter in person prior to adoption.
