I saw a box turtle nesting last night in an area that I flood when I drain the pond. this morning I dug the eggs up(i usually leave them where laid) and found six.over the years the most I have found was four.I took the pic before covering them, and setting them in a shaded area on the north side of the house to wait for them to hatch. Nice! Will the shady side of the house be warm enough to hatch them?

Hi Len:

I usually get 4 eggs per clutch too, but have noticed that the Eastern turtles sometimes lay more than four. What kind of box turtle eggs did you find?
