I have a 2-3 month old Sulcata named Sheldon. I have a 3x4 indoor enclosure that is kind of a closed chamber with plastic. I was just wondering where I should put the CHE and should I hang the UVB light from the middle? My hot side is around 80-85 but I'm using 2 plain heat lights for that. I just bought the CHE to put into replace the 2 plain heat ones. I have a humid hide that he barely uses. Right now he is very active and seems healthy, I just want to keep it that way. I am going to (try) to enclose and would love everybody opinions. Thanks!!

What is the humidity at right now in your enclosure? Do you close the front with plastic too? It seems it would be very hard to hold 80% humidity with the front opened like that.

80-85 should be your cool side for a baby sulcata. Warm side needs to be warmer and basking area should be near 100.

What sort of UV bulb are you going to hang? THe coil type cfl sometimes burn their eyes and should not be used. They are also ineffective, especially in a large enclosure like yours.

Generally I like the UV source to be near the heat/basking source.

The CHE should generally be near the middle so it warms up the whole thing. Put the thermostat probe that controls the CHE in a corner so the whole enclosure will be warm enough.

Yes I close it. Only open it to feed and water him and talk to him. And also to get him and take him outside. It stays around 70-80 %.

I'm using an exo-terra mercury vapor one. It's not the spiral one. I'm also spraying down the enclosure 3-4 times a day to keep the humidity up. Is there an easier way to do that? Should I keep one of the plain heat ones for a basking area and then hang both CHE and vapor in the middleish? I keep reading stuff everyday and keep second guessing my set up.
