This is my smallest Kinosternon baurii. I have raised her for the past year, and she's gone from a small 11 gram yearling to this in 11 months. She never refuses food. I have read that they grow fast, but this is my first time raising up a Kinosternidae turtle. It's been impressive to see a turtle with such a small adult size grow so quickly. "Turtles of the United States and Canada," says that males can reach maturity in 23 months and females in 29. That always seemed fast to me, but after seeing it happen, it makes sense.

I have 2.4 of these currently, and hope to get some fertile eggs from my big ladies this year.

Yeah those markings seem to have come out of nowhere.. I guess I'm not mad they have. She's gonna be my biggest, strongest breeder one day. I just know it!

I think it is cool that you will breed! :)
