Common Garden Slugs & Snails / Outdoor enclosure

Hello forum friends, Does anyone know if slugs and snails (common UK ones) can cause any health / other issues to my two Russians? They are getting into their outdoor enclosure at night and last night one snail even had the audacity to be sitting on top of my small torts shell. Maybe it had...

    Russian Tortoise Newbie

Hiya, Congratulations on your two new babies :tort: It is shocking that the pet store misinformed you. But great you have joined the forum, as everyone gives the best advice around. I am in the exact same situation as you (see my intro post "Hello From London"). As everyone has said, two...

My Tort is very active but won't eat!

Hiya Lucy, Welcome to the forums. My two Russians are feeding on a mix of - Dandelion, Hawkbit, Ribwort Plantain, sow thistle, rose petals, Aeonium. They love all of those, plus there are loads more weeds/wild flowers you can add. Just that these are in season here in London. :)

Rehoming One Of My Horsefield Tortoises :(

Hiya everyone. So I have taken the very hard decision to rehome one of my horsefield tortoises. Naturally, I am deeply sad about the prospect, but the bottom line is ensuring both my torts enjoy the best life torts can have. For people that would like to read more about how I came to be their...

Tee hee hee, maybe even fly when not looking! Thank you for the male confirmation - poor things having their parts displayed on the www!! I have made the very hard decision to give one of them away :( I want to ask some questions before I do so. Can you advise which section of the forum is...

    My Russian Escaped

Hiya Hun, I am so very sorry to read about your tort. I agree with not giving up hope, keep trying. I am not sure if the website freecycle is active in your area. Here in the UK it is, and people often post "found" & "lost" messages. In fact just last week someone posted a "I found a parrot in...

    Hello From London

Hiya Joes Mum, WOW what an amazingly helpful guide, thank you so very much. You tort and outdoor set up are both so beautiful :) My outdoor area foundation is slate, I do not have any open earth as such, so I need to try to factor in drainage. The one I built as a tester, did not factor in...

    Hello From London

Hiya Tom, Thank you so much for your warm welcome. Your articles are amazing and have been so helpful in my unexpected role as mum to two torts! 100% the are staying separated, I tried putting them in their outdoor run today - just in case their time apart might (knew it was a long shot) have...

    Hello From London

Hiya I suspect that before they landed at my door, they were kept in a vivarium full time :( Quite how both of them survived is beyond me and really upsets me to the point. Luckily the only injury is on my bigger one, a scale is missing. Although I suspect you're right about my smaller one...

    Hello From London

Hiya, thank you so much for your reply. I was actually suspicious as to if Stardust is actually a girl, as she is smaller than Hendrix (I was told they were both the same age) plus Stardust actually looks more feminine, to the point we all refer to her as a she still - I know that sounds nuts...

    Hello From London

Hiya, thank you so much for your reply and advice. It seems to be a mix either - dominance followed by mating (well trying to do so at least - usually at the wrong end!) - dominance followed by ignoring each other - getting on fine no issues sharing food etc. Of course, this is no longer...
