I'm sorry, I guess I misread the post but it sounded like he's having trouble with temp fluctuations through the season. Didn't realize there were weeks or months of standard freezing temps.
You need a plastic shed from lowes, hay bails for bedding, industrial plastic sheeting like for a walk in freezer (to use as door covering) and an oil heater like in a bathroom and a fenced in yard that they can't see through. He needs excise constantly and the shed would be converted to become...
I only planned to keep her indoors til after she is 2 because of humidity reasons and keeping pyramiding from happening. I live in Virginia with 2.4 acres of land. I'll be building her permanent outdoor enclosure and heated house for winters, this coming summer
I was afraid of that, ok then I'll probably build another box exactly the same way but on Bigger scale, I have her table covered for humidity purposes already, I'll just make it bigger. She is a sulcata
Anna is 18mos old, 2lbs, and the size of softball. Current house is 2ft by 4ft table lined with plastic sheeting with cypress mulch. Covered pvc tent for humidity. I want to move her to the spot beneath her current table for more space, but it's brick, need to know if thermostat heat mat would...
I'm so glad I've kept up with everything here, took my baby Annabelle to the vet yesterday and he was so impressed with my enclosure and her growth! Her diet is mostly house plants and grasses I've grown myself! Thank you for reposting this for the new owners. I've had Anna for little more than...
Here is my temporary outdoor pen since AnnaBelle is still a baby. She has a hide box in upper left corner though it's difficult to see since it's black. This is only used for great weather days. She's in house at night and any yucky days.
Annabelle is only about 10 wks old (rough guess) and her nails are still translucent but they seem long to me. Should you ever clip a baby sulcata's nails?
Hey there Kelly,
I currently have a few eastern box turtles in my care and have had them now a couple years. They do best kept outdoors in a LARGE enclosure as they need lots of room to walk. My pen outside is 4ftx12ft and sunk into the ground about 7in. and about 16in tall above ground. They...
Alright guys and gals, I posted my initial table set up pics in my introduction thread yesterday and since reading a few guide links everyone was so nice to provide me...here is my baby sulcata's table since changing bedding to cypress mulch and putting up plastic sheeting humidity control.
Well I have no idea what she weighs I would have to get a gram scale to know for sure ....so deff. less than a pound. I built my table from 1"x10"x6' white boards, a 2x4' birchwood plywood 1/2" sheet, and one stick of 2x2". I then stained it with minwax stain poly in one. took a day or so for...
I like the pvc pic in the enclosed chamber thread but what is done for ventilation? any suggestions or should i just poke a few holes in the plastic sheeting?
Well I have read through all these helpful links and have to say Thank You!!!! I have two adjustments I will definitely be making to my turtle table because of them. But here is the pics I said I would post from my earlier post. I will be changing the bedding now and I will be making an enclosed...
