Hi all, soooo happy, my female hingy laid eggs about a month ago and so far so good, so here's hoping! she laid 2 eggs about 3 days apart. So if they hatch any advice for keeping them happy and healthy, that is my main concern, keeping them alive..... so any advice or tips would be...
So, I have no idea if they are cb or not, though they are ltc. The guy I got them from had them for 3-4 yrs, and sold them cause they wouldn't breed..... Haha when I got them I could tell right away they were all females.... They are easterns so probably some brumation then?
Ya I know I may not get eggs, I breed a bunch of other reps and mammals. It's just good to see the breeding as I have had them for 2 years and this is the first time they have even bred. I was wondering about the humidity and the whistling. But my humidity is higher now than it is in the...
Hi all, I'm soooo happy, my homes are breeding and have been for the past week or so. So I have a few questions, when might I see eggs? Is it like other reptiles, about a month? I have been going through some older threads, if she lays incubating at about 80 degrees? I have a room that...
I have 4 female easterns, one was supposed to be a male, but they all are females, so know I have to search for a male. I am in Alberta so PM me if you know of one. Thanks
Thanks for all the replies.:) So they can pretty much eat anything and everything....little garbage disposals:D. I feed mine romaine, kale, carrots, and then they get whatever else I have at the moment. Good to know they can eat mushrooms, my hingies love their mushrooms too. I have beardies...
Hi I just got a group of 4 female easterns and I know what they generally eat, I was just looking for some different ideas from what I may already have. So.....what does everyone feed their easterns????:)
OK..... my room is about 75 degrees where they are, anything I read said they should be at least 80-85 so that is why I put the heat emitter in there. I thought they were too cold..... Well that changes things...:( I may put the 60 watt emitter back in as they are up against a north cement...
I'm starting to think that it is just my male and his personality. He seems quite content in the water and when I bring him out he tucks himself in really tight and won't come out of his shell at all until I leave for quite awhile. But when he is in the water he is out all the time. He just...
For the first while I do keep it to myself alot...that keeps me from crying in front of people.
When my great grandfather died, I was only 12 or 13, but I remember my dad saying that great grandpa wouldn't want me to cry for him, he would only want me to remember the good times and who he...
I will try putting the heat emitter over the water.......
So is more fruit ok, maybe every other day? or just keep it like I'm doing it? I may be able to get cactus pad, I may try that too.
Another question, what do you make your hides out of? I'm using a tupperware with a hole cut in...
The male is eating, but as soon as he is done eating he goes right back to the water. The cage I have them in right now is 4x2 feet. On the left is where I feed them and the heat light. I am using a ceramic heat emitter, the hot spot is roughly 90 and the low end is 70. The right side is...
I have had my pair of hingebacks for two weeks now. As far as I can tell they are doing ok, but I just had a couple questions about behavior and humidity.
1) My male sits in the water all the time unless I pull him out, is this an indication of something wrong or is it just him? I will say...
I am just saying hi, wanted a good tortoise forum and this looks like a good one!!:D I just got a pair of Home's Hingeback torts and wanted a place I could go if I needed questions answered or extra info.
My background: we have tons of animals, snakes, geckos, dragons, RES, sugar gliders...
