I was wondering if snapping turtles needed basking lights or not. getting the light won't be a problem if the do need it... if not well nothing really changes, btw I just got a snapper yesterday and he is in a holding tank for the day...

Well here in Michigan, you just need a fishing license to "harvest" painted turtles from the wild. But you can only have one of a particular type of species and can only have two wild caught turtles total...
