Young Hermanns in need of good home (WA)

I am very sad to say I have to find a new home for my Hermanns tortoise. I am going through a divorce, and am currently struggling to find a place to live for myself and young daughter. I was kicked out of my home and obviously had to leave all my animals behind. It is of the upmost importance...

Finally introducing myself... and my tortoise!

Thank you all! I have been spending nearly all my free time browsing through as many threads as I can. Unfortunately in that picture yes, they were pine shavings. They were next to the aspen shavings at the pet store and I mistakenly grabbed that bag instead of the aspen. However I caught my...

Finally introducing myself... and my tortoise!

Hello everyone, I joined this forum a while ago as I was trying to decide if a tortoise was right for me. I came to the conclusion that my current situation didn't allow for me to meet their needs, so I waited. Well I've moved into a bigger house, and at the Seattle Reptile Expo I picked up my...

Is a tortoise right for me?

How adorable! Thank you very much for sharing. Although I think the canned dog food is not something I'd be too keen on, since I don't deal with meat too well (I'm vegan). Thank you all for your input and suggestions!

Is a tortoise right for me?

Thank you all for your honest opinions. It seems like a tortoise isn't going to work out for my situation, as I would rather give them the perfect home than just barely meet their needs. Hopefully one day I will be able to accommodate them, but now is obviously not the time. And yes, I have...

Is a tortoise right for me?

Well the problem with keeping them outside (besides weather/predators) is the fact that I don't have a yard. Once I move sometime in the next year or two I should, but I have no idea when exactly that would be or how much space I would have. If I ever did get a tortoise I know it would...

Is a tortoise right for me?

I have been looking into getting a tortoise for over a year now, but I'm still not quite sure that my situation would be ideal for keeping them. I live in Washington, in the Puget Sound area, so outside time would be extremely limited to occasional brief periods during the summer. Also, they...
