Water source for a growing boy

Hello, my sulcata is at a size that I am struggling with for a water source. He is about 60 lbs. He is too big for any water bowl ever made, but the pond we have for him is a terrible challenge to keep clean and intact. I can’t figure out how to actually configure a kiddie pool for him to easily...

    Keeping my sulcata safe.

I would love to figure out how to reinforce our sandy soil. I will spend some time looking around the enclosure sections. I will still fill it in before it gets cold to keep her from going there instead of her heated house. What should the temperature be in her outside house to feel comfortable...

    Keeping my sulcata safe.

Hello everyone! Thanks in advance for your advice. I have a 6yr old sulcata. She weighs 35 lbs. She measures 24"x 24", although this shocks me. Her carapace is so domed, her width is much smaller than her length. I am saying 'she', but I don't know. I would like to, but not sure how that...

    Please check out my sulcata.

Thank you Maggie. She is over a year. When she is inside, I feed her a pile early in the day. If its gone before dark, I give her more. She free feeds when outdoors,I don't give her anything. Can she be overfed when indoors? Good stuff, not fruit.

    What to do?

Thank you everyone! I feel validated that bringing her home and then not putting her back was not a totally irresponsible decision. There is no land left unpopulated around where I found her that is not dog park. Nothing. The front entrance to the park in less than 30feet from an 8 lane...

    Please check out my sulcata.

OK, this is all very helpful. Thank you. You are right about watching her behavior. That is what I have been doing and I will stick with my gut. I put her out at 65, but the ground was wet from earlier rain, and was too cold for her. She didn't like it and I brought her back in. I agree that...

    What to do?

I have an Eastern Box Turtle. My Great Dane puppy brought her to me at our dog park. Flipped her out of his big, slobbery mug and pawed at her like a ball. About had a heart attack. I brought her home to make sure she was ok, and to figure out how/where to release her to a more suitable...

    Please check out my sulcata.

OK, so some disagreement on whether or not she even is pyramiding. Good. I won't worry about it. I read the article before I asked. Very helpful, but doesn't clearly define pyramiding. I wanted your opinions. Thank you. Get her a better, bigger outdoor hide. Check. She'll need more space that...

My last thread of the year...

Thank you for not taking that as an attack. I am just curious. And I did not mean to imply that you would breed her just to make money. You clearly are enamored of her unique cuteness and seem just to be wanting to share:) It got me interested and I surfed around the internet on the subject...

Do males or females make better pets?

I love this thread. Good question. Funny and honest answers. Amanda, I have no idea how you will choose. I have a 2 yr old sulcata. No idea which sex I have yet. If you get a young one, I don't think you can tell with Russians either. So, just go for it. They are much too cute as wee ones to...

    Please check out my sulcata.

I'm new to the forum. She is the first tortoise we have ever had. She is about two. Weighs almost 3 lbs and is almost 8" long. I live in North Florida and keep her outside all summer. She comes in whenever it is very rainy or the temps go down. When she is out, I don't feed her. Her yard is...

    Hello everyone:)

Thank you everyone:) I'm happy you think she looks good, so far. But I think she is pyramiding, and from all I have gotten here, that's not good. Off to another thread for better pictures and more screening by you all.

    Multiple Sclerosis: Any advice?

Over 10 years ago, one of my good friends was diagnosed with MS. He has since married, had a child, got on a medicine regiment that works for him, and it truly has little effect on his life. Its always there, but he chooses not to focus on it. As I am sure you are aware, it definitely has...

My last thread of the year...

Total novice question. She is really interesting, but I have always thought of albino animals as being genetically weak. She would likely not survive to breeding age in the wild, simply because she lacks natural camouflage. Is it a good idea to breed her? Or is it just an experiment for the pet...

    Hello everyone:)

Hi, I'm Becky. We have a sulcatta that is around 2 (I think), 15 red-eared sliders, a box turtle, and 4 dogs. The only turtle/tortoise that we didn't rescue is Charlotte, our sulcatta. She was an impulse buy. (The babies are SO cute!)The pet store told me to feed her fruit and that she would...
