You can see a photo of him in my profile/default picture. Im looking for a home for him though. I dont want to give him to someone only to have them turn around and sell him...
A) Yes.
B) Im in the Springfield area of Western Massachusetts. Id rather not ship him unless I have to, but if you're otherwise an amazing candidate, Ill consider it.
He currently lives in a 4x4 foot enclosure and eats 'spring mix' (mixed greens) from the grocery store. Id like the new owner to match or exceed his current enclosure, and provide him with a better diet. Photographic proof of your enclosure is required. Previous tortoise experience is preferred...
Hello forums. I own a male Hermanns tortoise aquired as an adult, but estimated to be about 10-15 years old. I love him to death, but Ive decided to give him up for several reasons. Im not really an experienced reptile person by any means, and I feel bad for him. I love him, but Im busy a lot of...
Hey all, I have a question regarding my adult male Hermann's Tortoise. I do my best to give him a good soak once or twice a week, but whenever I put him in his soaking bin, all he does is run into the wall the whole time, trying to climb out. He's living solely indoors for the winter but I have...
Thank you for responding! I adopted him as an adult. I don't know what his previous care was like. I've had him for a year now, and he does have evidence of shell rot from sometime before I got him but the cracking on the side seems new. Maybe its just due to dehydration. How often would you...
Okay, I'll start giving him additional soaks. Any other advice guys? :/

Update: His eye crustys are gone. I'm guessing it was just some kind of dirt/gunk, and I was just being a paranoid mother? But I'll let you know if it comes back. I'm still very concerned about his shell though.
My Hermann's tortoise is experiencing some shell cracking and theres a small hole thats really concerning me. The hole is making me think shell rot, but the humidity is very low for the winter, so I feel like that doesn't make sense. I dont usually soak him, but he has a large water bowl in his...
I had a feeling you'd say that. Oh well. It would've been nice to only have to have one indoor enclosure, but thats okay. The torties happiness and safety is the most important thing. :) And by the time I get the baby I'll have a real house anyway, so there will be enough room for two!
Hello all. I was wondering if you think it would be safe to put an adult and a baby tortoise together in the same enclosure. I have an adult male (who I acquired as an adult but I estimate to be ~10-15 years because hes grown a bit in the year since I got him - he is the first and only reptile...
I have a male hermanns tortoise, and I just was doing some spot cleaning in his tank (a 50g Rubbermaid). The substrate is reptibark and coconut fiber. Its 80 degrees and humidity is low. Everything seemed normal until I picked up his water dish and underneath there were a bunch of insects…...
You guys are making me feel like a much better owner than I thought I was being. :) I'll definitely try to expand his indoor enclosure for the fall and winter and then make him an outdoor pen that he can spend some time in after I move this summer. I'm originally from North Attleboro MA but I...
Hes an adult, but since I aquired him as an adult, I dont know how old he is. Is there any way to tell? Im currently a college student, so I only have a one room place. Im hoping to be able to afford to move into a bigger place this summer after I graduate. In the meantime, a second level might...
