Hello, I was curious about allowing my tortoise to roam about my room/house. Supervised of course. But is this preferable for them? Is it annoying or would it cause anxiety of some sort? I was curious because I haven't seen any threads about the merits/dangers of allowing a tort to roam about...

I got my new baby Russian tort today. I tip my hat to EweezyfoSheezy for a very simple transaction. He is two months old, and quite adorable. He is also my first tortoise, and though I have been doing quite a bit of research about Russians, I imagine it won't be a day before I have a panic...
So I use coco coir substrate in my new indoor enclosure. I only put the stuff in the tank about 5-6 days ago, but the top level of the substrate keeps drying out and I am worried that this will be an issue for my two month old Russian. Since they need a lot of moisture and whatnot.
