New tort table built from back yard scraps

I have been wanting a table for Spike for awhile now, so I scavenged the backyard for lumber and this is what happened... Found this, I'm not sure what the previous owners used it for. Washed it with the hose. Sealed the cracks. Waterproofed. Built a house with hinged lid from scrap lumber...

Working on a new outside enclosure!

I'm starting with a 5x7 chain link dog kennel to keep our dogs and other critters out. I'm using cinder blocks to line to inside to keep Spike from getting to the chain link. He's little, he'll either escape or get tangled. I pulled up the grass and weeds that were there and I plan on putting...

    Aldabras at the Zoo

Saw my first live Aldabra today at the Tulsa zoo. Pretty amazing animals. I didn't take any pics as they were in the shelter staying warm, but they were huge. The oldest one was estimated to be 125 years old.

Too cold for sun... Need help

Spike just has a uv basking bulb because when I first got him and had the original setup with the UVB bulb, I was informed that I did not need it it and it could actually hurt/blind him. Tom suggested that he would be fine with at least 20 min of sun twice a week. Well now it is too cold for...

Anyone know what species this is?

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pet/3481249609. I thought about provided better care information or even adopting just to get the tort out of the guinea pig cage and set up, but I don't know what kind it is.

    Updated Enclosure Photo

I have cut the lid to cover the cool side but to be open on the other half. I just had it off for the photo. Does anyone know what type of plant that is? Substrate is peat moss and coco coir on the humid side. Temps are right according to Tom's post. I wish I had room for it to be bigger...

I think I missed somethine... (calendar contest question)

I am sorry if this is the wrong board or if this has already been covered... but did the voting thread disappear? I am just curious. I had already voted and I just wanted to go revisit the thread and I cannot find it anywhere! Am I crazy, or was it removed? Thanks.

    Poor babies... (CL ad)

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pet/3239412060.html Look how dry and sandy. Irving is not far from me, but I do not have that adoption fee right now. Or a space set up for two more tortoises... (unless I build a brick enclosure outside maybe) and I would have to separate them eventually...

Just ordered my first bag of mazuri...

I'm hoping my baby will eat it and it will spark some growth. He hasn't grown much and after all these posts about runts and poor Scooter, I'm paranoid. I will let y'all know how it goes.

    Hello! First post...

My name is Jessica and my Sulcata's name is Spike. 'He' is about 9 months old and about 3 inches. I got him from a reptile show. I had wanted one for a very long time and it was not an impulse decision. I did my research. I know the size he will be and the responsibility that comes along with...
