    Light height?

I just got a new Arcadia ProT5 kit for my RF. I searched and searched, the only one I could find was 24W with a 12% bulb. How far should I put this over the substrate? The highest I could get it in the enclosure would be about 21". Also, should I get a 6% (forest) bulb next time I replace the...

Not seeing much poop from RF

Yes. Like I said I have only had him for a week. I didn’t want to go buy everything he could possibly eat at once, so that was just this last week. The previous owner basically just gave it tortoise pellets all the time so I didn’t want to totally shock its system either.

Not seeing much poop from RF

I have had my RF for over a week now. When I first got it from the previous owner, I was seeing some poop in the enclosure. But over the past 4-5 days I have not found any. It seems to be eating well, some days it eats more than others. Kale, turnip greens, collard greens, and a few pieces of...

Can anyone help sex my RF?

I just got this tortoise this morning from it's previous owner. There are a lot of steps I'll have to take to give it a healthier life. However, I just want to confirm the sex of the tortoise. The owner said it was a male, but based off of pictures of males I'm not so sure. Hoping I could get...

Advice on indoor enclosure: Ventilation? Materials?

I know there are a lot of already answered questions on here already, but I haven't quite found exactly the answer I'm looking for so hoping posting my specific questions will help me out! I'm building an indoor enclosure for my RF. I've seen people use plywood with some exterior paint to help...

    New-to-me Red Footed Tortoise Pyramiding

That's very helpful. He currently gets a lot of the (I think) Fulker's Tortoise diet. Should I cut that out or is that still okay in some quantity?

    New-to-me Red Footed Tortoise Pyramiding

Thank you! The last comment is very helpful. I was starting to get a little overwhelmed! I really want to give this little tortoise some help and a good life! The previous owner is a great person, I just don't think they did much research when they got it.

    New-to-me Red Footed Tortoise Pyramiding

Also, what specific suggestions do you have for diet? I see tons of different information online and its a little bit overwhelming. He might be a bit over fed as the owner said he keeps food in there all the time. I believe most of his diet also consists of pellets, along with some veggies...

    New-to-me Red Footed Tortoise Pyramiding

Is there anything else I can do for his skin or with more humidity will it just heal on its own? Also, as far as the substrate, I was planning on continuing to use cyprus mulch, but it is not an covered enclosure. Will that be able to keep the humidity up or should I try a different substrate?

    New-to-me Red Footed Tortoise Pyramiding

Would by a window be a good replacement instead of a light? Wouldn't be a ton of direct light, but just general sunlight all day. As well as some areas of the enclosure that would be out of the light.

    New-to-me Red Footed Tortoise Pyramiding

I am inheriting a 5 year old red footed tortoise from a teacher that is moving. I am new to tortoise ownership, but have been doing lots of research. It looks to have some (bad?) pyramiding. What can be done to mitigate this as I take over ownership so that it doesn't get worse. I do know that...
