Want to make a tort table but whats the best type of wood to use? Plywood??

There's not really a "best" wood, but plywood is a good one for sure. Whatever you can afford, really, plywood, 2x8s, 1x6s, pallets, whatever you can hammer into a box shape.

For what species and size? I use plywood and 2x4s for most of my builds.

It will be horsefield. Going to make a 4ftx3ft til he gets bigger then ill build bigger

I used pine and then you can use marine ply on the bottom so its waterproof but i used something else and i dont know what its called :)

I'll be building my tort a new table soon and plan on using pine 'common boards' they look great, are relatively cheap, and are non-toxic, unlike cedar.

18" wide won't allow for much room after you put in the water dish. Don't start there if you have the option.
