I never found out what Donatello's exact hatch date was but when we got him in December I believe he was a couple months old so I just guessed a date that I thought would be close. Putting his birthday at October 16, 2011.

December 16, 2011: 2 in. 42g
January 16, 2012: 2.5 in. 73g
February 16, 2012: 3 in. 100g
March 16, 2012: 3 in. 135g

He seems to be averaging around 30g a month. Is that a good amount? Yesterday when we were outside he was walking around my legs and kept trying to eat my shorts and hide in my legs. It was too funny.

I went to get a birthday picture and I swear I've never seen him turn around and run away so fast. Must not be the day for pictures.

How cute! Must be camera shy :)

He usually doesn't mind the camera. He had just woke up though and I'm sure I'd be pretty upset if someone shoved a camera in my face first thing too.....I'm thinking that's what it was.

I thought he looked big in that picture too. He's right at 3 inches though. He always seems to look huge in pictures.

Thank you :) We're trying our best to keep the little guy happy. Hopefully we're going to get out of this apartment in June and into a house so he can be outside more. Right now that's about the only problem we're having.

He looks great and the new growth is excellent. You are doing a great job. If he was only 42 grams when you got him, I'm going to guess he was younger than two months. Mine usually hatch at 35-41 grams and hit 50+ in their first 30 days. Its possible that he was kept dry and not fed much for the first two months, which would have kept him smaller longer...

Either way, he looks great now, has great weight, size and growth, and in ten years a couple of months one way or the other won't matter. :) He's going to be a gorgeous adult!

The place we got him had him in a tank with a water dragon. It was very dry. No water. (I'm not sure how the water dragon was even still alive.) The woman told me to feed him lots of fruit and lettuce and even told me that I could drill a hole in his shell and hook him up to a leash in the back yard. Needless to say, it was horrible. I just couldn't leave him there. Luckily I found this website before we brought him home.
