To answer MikeH. I know it is recommended to leave it on for 10-12 hours a day. Nothing wrong with that. I know that in the wild and inside a home tortoises spend most of their time in the shade. Therefore they don't get the UVB from a bulb for most of that 10-12 hours. I said I removed the hide...

I would buy the UV-B Mercury Vapor Light and use that for an hour or so on most days. I actually block the hide while the light is on so they definitely get the UV-B exposure.

I contacted this lady as well via email. She said she would not ship. I would only recommend seeing and buying in person. I agree, the "deal" seemed too good to be true. People would jump on a plane for that deal on her!

My fault. I typed in Golden Greek and got two posts. "Elmo is 4.5", "Is he a Russian?" and "No, he's a Golden Greek". I figured this was about the size of a Golden Greek. Next time I will make sure to thoroughly check the entire thread before posting. Thanks for your advice and it is well taken...

I have a Golden Greek male that is 5 +". I'm not sure how old he is? Is there anyone who knows how long it takes them to achieve that size? Anyone out there that has a large female Golden Greek?
