My tort has the same little dent. I read its a trait that some sullys have. It will go away in time. Its nothing to worry about.

I have followed Toms advice and my sully is very healthy and has a nice smooth shell. Your vet is wrong.

I would use moist coco coir instead of wood chips for bedding

Use coco coir, stuff is the BEST
