The rings are merely signs of growth and so cannot be used to estimate age as all tortoises and turtles develop at varying rates based upon their conditions (feeding regime, temps, etc....)
That said if the rings have been worn away to give a smooth appearance it does give you an indication...

Hi, I posted about 3 months ago about an eye problem my OBT had, and thats at last cleared up at last :D although it took forever and then it wouldn't eat for I don't know how long. But last month it started eating properly and has now doubled her weight in a month (she had lost alot:()

Its eye is better thanks:) its been a bit of a rollercoaster ride at one point I didn't get to see its eyeball for a good few days it was swollen so bad:(
