    Two red foot tortoises

Sorry I guess a location would help. I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Unfortunately, I am not looking for just a temporary home. This move will not be a temporary one so I know I will not be able to keep more torts any longer.

    Two red foot tortoises

It is with a very heavy heart that I am posting this,,,I just found out that my family is loosing our house. We have 30 days before we have to be out and as much as I dont want to admit it, I cant take Gretta and Stanley with me, we will not have the spafce for their enclosure and I refuse to...

    Another way to determine gender?

As you might know I work at Petsmart and I had a customer call with questions regarding redfoot tortoises. She wanted to know if we have any right now and if we do, what gender is it. I told her we have one but it is quite young (around 4 inches in length) so I dont know the gender for sure...

    Future Friends

Thanks!!! And yes, the little one is from the Petsmart that I work at. On a side note to anyone who is looking for a young redfoot. Petsmart stores dropped their prices down to $100 plus we have a 14 day guarantee on all of our pets. :)

    Future Friends

They are not living together but I am letting them interact together and they seem to get along well so far. I realize they are recommended to be quarantined but since they are both captive breed I am comfortable with letting them interact now. I also know there is too much of a size difference...

    Is he too small?

Ok. I sort of figured it was too much of a size difference. I just thought Id double check with the members of the forum. Thats sad though, this RF is sooo adorable, I really wanted to give is a good forever home.

    Is he too small?

So I have decided to definetely get a friend for Gretta and we finally got our new red foot in at the Petsmart where I work. It is an adorable, healthy little redfoot. :) I measured the little guy today and it is 4.5 inches in length. Now, Gretta is almost 7 inches, is she too big to be...

Is it ok to give Gretta a friend?

Im thinking I will be looking more for a female simply because I do not want to force Gretta to deal with a male all day, every day. :) Plus I do not want to incubate the eggs and stuff (as awesome as it would be to watch the babies grow and everything:) And I plan on getting another tort...

Is it ok to give Gretta a friend?

I do realize 6 x 4 is not big enough for 2 adults, its not even big enough for 1 adult. This enclosure is just what I have space for at this time. As far as the quarantine period, I did not realize it was 6 months, however I did know there is one and I am prepared for it. I will use Gretta's...

Is it ok to give Gretta a friend?

Gretta is a 7 inch (I think around 6 yr old) female redfoot. I bought her a little over a year ago. I think I am doing pretty well with her habitat setup and care and I have been thinking for a long time about getting Gretta a friend. I know redfoots generally like to live with another...

    Wont leave her water dish

I do not know how old she is but she is 6.5 inches in length. She has always had roughly the same envirnment, cypress mulch, organic top soil, mixed with shpagnum moss. humidity is around 80% and temp between 82-84 degrees. I have had Gretta for a year now and have never seen her do this before...

    Wont leave her water dish

Im a bit concerned about Gretta. For the past 4 days, she has been doing nothing but sitting in her water dish. She wont even get out of her water to eat. Couldx this mean something is wrong with her?
